EACR Social Activities and Events
A world that respects and listens to children; and allows them to grow in health and dignity
Community Social Mobilization through Social Coordination
The EACR prides itself in successfully rallying community level social mobilization through its strong network of community civil society groups spread across the three east African countries. Since its formation, the network has ably demonstrated this unique advantage by successfully coordinating 16 active civil society groups and local media in western Kenya to engage government and development partners in boldly addressing teenage pregnancy, gender based violence directed at children including child marriage. Through this initiative, seventy public primary schools have been directly reached and supported to establish and run child rights clubs, as well as introduce child safeguarding programs targeting teachers. Lessons learnt from this initiative are being disseminated at various fora and platforms nationally and across the region
Strengthening and Enabling Civil Society Capacity
The EACR civil society capacity strengthening at the very centre of its work across the region.
We believe that a strong civil society is the only sure way to ensuring that human rights of children will be respected and upheld.
This is why our work with grassroots organizations focus on three issues namely;
- Showcase their work with children;
- Strengthen their efforts and build their technical capacity to effectively implement child rights programs;
- And lastly, strengthen their resource mobilization capacities for program growth.
